Tulipwood Bowl
CG-002
Wood Tulipwood
Turned February 2026
Finish Melamine lacquer
This Tulipwood bowl came from a blank bought at my club, Kent Woodturners. The blank had a large knot in the middle that was quite deformed and took some effort to handle.
That challenge drove me to try a different style — a much larger foot and shallower profile than my usual bowls. The wider base gives it a grounded, substantial feel while the shallow interior creates an elegant serving shape.

Although a remnant of the dark knot is still visible in the bowl’s base, it creates quite a nice effect — a natural focal point that draws the eye inward.

The bowl is finished with melamine lacquer, leaving a smooth, food-safe surface.
